Location: Stockholm (onsite)
Scope: 100%
Start: ASAP
Duration: 2–3 months
Language: English (Swedish preferred)
About the task:
We are assisting a customer in Stockholm with an industrial robot-based system where the GUI is programmed in a 2003 version of VisualWorks Smalltalk. The system runs on a Windows XP computer that is currently not connected to the internet. The GUI interfaces with BASIC on a separate machine controller.
At present, the equipment is not functioning properly, and the GUI does not provide sufficiently detailed information to identify the root cause of the issues. The customer seeks to gain an understanding of the code to pinpoint the source of the errors.
The total codebase, including all referenced packages, consists of approximately 700,000 lines of code. The customer has general programming competence in-house but lacks specialized expertise in Smalltalk.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has solid experience with VisualWorks Smalltalk
• Is skilled in analyzing legacy codebases and identifying errors
• Can work independently and collaborate with the customer’s internal development team
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with industrial control systems
• Knowledge of BASIC and cross-language communication

If you meet the necessary qualifications, please send your CV along with your rate expectation, availability, and a short motivation to Andreas at andreas.malm@rightpeoplegroup.com.
